What we assess and treatSpeech Sound Disorders: We work with clients who have difficulty saying words or sounds correctly. This can include problems with articulation (sound production), phonology (sound patterns), Childhood Apraxia of Speech (deficits of motor planning), and/or dysarthria (physiological deficits).
Reading and spelling: We work with clients who have difficulty learning to read and spell. We offer the evidence-based, high-quality Sounds-Write phonics program as our primary intervention for clients who have fallen behind in their reading and spelling. This program works well for literacy learners of all ages, including children and adults. Initial consultation and assessment An initial consultation with Sound Abilities Speech Pathology is for a total of 60 minutes. During this session the speech pathologist will:
Therapy sessions Based on the assessment results, we will work with clients and their families to develop a customised therapy plan to address areas of concern. A standard therapy session with Sound Abilities Speech Pathology is for a total of 30 minutes, although 45-minute or 60-minute sessions can be scheduled when appropriate. Therapy is always based on current research and driven by the needs and interests of our clients. |
